I bet you didn't think I'd spotlight a meh review. Well here I go. This one had me laughing out loud and I couldn't resist. I LOVE this line:
Alas, there’s nothing like turning into a parasitic alien ghost to lay waste to a woman’s romantic prospects.
This is also very kind:
It has a great premise, a fascinating mystery, and a compelling romance at its center. (Fisher is a three-time Romance Writers of America Golden Heart finalist, and it’s easy to see why.)
Now for the meh. Some people like their peanut butter and chocolate mixed and some people don't. This reviewer was looking for more of a pure sci fi novel, and felt that the focus on the romance detracted from the story's potential. She also felt too many questions were left unanswered.
Both were conscious choices I made, and I did realize it would nettle some folks. The glowing reviews have been fabulous, but I honestly do enjoy reading all of the reviewers' opinions, including those reviews that . . . well . . . don't glow.
